
Pennsylvania State Police in Bucks County and surrounding areas are warning they will be out looking for distracted, aggressive, and intoxicated drivers.

The enforcement effort started at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday and will end at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, according to troopers are Troop M, which has a barracks in Bensalem Township that covers Lower Bucks County.
The troopers will be looking for intoxicated drivers and will have specially-trained drug recognition experts on the streets, according to a statement.
During the 2021 Thanksgiving holiday travel season, Troop M, which covers Bucks, Lehigh, and Northampton counties, investigated 77 crashes and made 35 DUI arrests, state police said.

The troopers will also be targeting motorist who aggressively drive their vehicles. They will be focusing speeding, seat belt violations, texting while driving, reckless driving, and child seat belt infractions.
โChild safety seats reduce crash deaths and injuries, yet troopers cited 1,200 drivers last year for not having children secured. That is unacceptable,โ said Lt. Col. Jeremy Richard, deputy commissioner of operations for the Pennsylvania State Police.

On Wednesday from 10 p.m. into 3 a.m. on Thanksgiving, police from Bensalem Township, Lower Southampton Township, Newtown Borough, Richland Township, Warrington Township, and Upper Southampton Township will be conducting a roving DUI patrol along Street Road from Bensalem Township to Warrington Township, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.
Troopers warned that fleeing from police trying to pull you over can carry its own penalties.
