Keith Blount, 59, was charged Sunday night with five counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person, and other related offenses. He has been held on $2.5 million bail and awaits a mental health evaluation.

Blount allegedly fired at multiple Philadelphia police officers on Friday afternoon near the 3300 block of North 10th Street.

Blount is said to have exited his vehicle before opening fire on the police without being provoked. He was shot and suffered a graze wound to the head before being taken to the hospital by police. He is expected to recover, according to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.

“Thankfully, it appears no officers or bystanders were injured,” the statement from Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner’s office said.

The investigation in Philadelphia continues, and another continues in Delaware County where Blount is suspected of being involved in the fatal shooting of Bart Masciulli, 51, of Middletown Township’s Levittown section.

The Delaware County shooting happened hours before the Philadelphia shootout.

Masciulli was shot dead in his car in the 8700 block of Essington Avenue near the FedEx distribution center near Philadelphia International Airport where he worked, according to Delaware County authorities.

Masciulli’s death is being investigated as a possible instance of workplace violence, authorities said.
