A taste of Hawaii has come to Middletown Township with the opening of a new eatery.
In summer, fast casual restaurant chain Poke Bros. opened an outpost in the Summit Square Shopping Center in Middletown Township. The location is between David Craig Jewelers and the The Happy Mixer Gluten Free Bakery.

Poke is the name of the dish in a bowl with a base, typically rice, that is topped with raw or marinated cubed fish, vegetables, nuts, seeds, sauces, and other ingredients in the traditional Hawaiian cuisine that has recently gained popularity on the East Coast. Depending on what the consumer wants, the dishes can be customized.
Poke is pronounced pokay, and it is marketed as a healthy alternative to other meals.
The restaurant is based on the well-known assembly-line style made popular by chains like Chipotle, which operates a location in the Levittown area.

“As Poke Bros. continues to grow, we continue to put maximum emphasis on the quality of our food and service,” the company that has 70 stores said.
The business was founded in Ohio in 2016 by three friends and has spread across over 11 states. Poke Bros. has existing locations in Lower Southampton and Warrington townships.

The eatery fills a spot left vacant when a Subway closed sometime over the past year. Subway was in that location for a number of years.
