A man was hurt in a crash on I-295 in Middletown Township.

The crash happened on I-295 westbound near the East Lincoln Highway overpass around 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Troopers said a 2002 Volvo driven by a 48-year-old Yardley man and a 1998 Chrysler driven by a 24-year-old New Jersey woman were traveling on the highway when traffic stopped. The Volvo struck the rear of the Chrysler, causing the Volvo to go off the roadway.
The Volvo went up the embankment off the shoulder of the highway and struck a tree.

The Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad responded to the scene and removed the injured Yardley man from his crashed Volvo, state police said.
The Yardley man was serious injured in the crash, state police said.

Troopers said they were going to charge the Yardley man with driving at unsafe speeds, following too closely, required financial responsibility. The driver of the vehicle that was struck will be charged with required financial responsibility.
