Amberger and Loftus were in the 2003 BMW that collided with a 2015 Nissan Juke along eastbound New Falls Road near Indian Creek Entry in Bristol Township’s Levittown section around 12:35 p.m.

Loftus was reported to be driving the BMW at the time of the wreck.

Police said evidence indicated the BMW impacted the Juke and struck a curb. The BMW then hit a utility pole. The Juke struck a curb and street sign.

The crash closed New Falls Road for hours and left debris strewn across the pavement.

A memorial at the scene has grown in the days since the teens’ deaths. A Christmas tree with ornaments in memory of the victims was in place with the snapped utility pole just few feet away.

A GoFundMe was set up to help Amberger’s family in the wake of his death. As of Monday afternoon, $28,000 had been raised.

“[Amberger] was an athlete, a leader, a friend to many, and a loving son and grandson. He touched so many peoples lives and deserved so much more life than he got. He fought so many battles and smiled through it all. Those who knew him know how contagious his smile was,” the fundraising account read.

A GoFundMe was established for Loftus, whose organs were donated.

“Mathew will be remembered as someone who was humble, who would love others whole heartedly, and someone who possessed a contagious and infectious smile. He was truly one of a kind and anyone who knew him knows he loved anything with a motor. He will be remembered as being a wonderful son, brother, Uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to many. His Family and friends will miss him dearly,” the page read.

Amberger was confirmed to be a Pennsbury High School student. It was unclear where Loftus attended school.

“As we process this tragic loss as a school community, our condolences go out to the student’s family and friends,” Pennsbury School District Superintendent Dr. Thomas Smith and interim high school Principal Reggie Meadows said.

The school district placed counselors, case managers, and members of a crisis intervention team at the high school’s East Campus Monday morning and will host office hours again Wednesday from 10 a.m. until noon.

The district also said counselors will be on hand once the holidays are over. Links of interest were provided to help parents of students distressed from the fatal crash.

Anyone with details on the crash has been asked to contact Officer Kenneth Margerum at 267-812-2991.
