Retired Colonel Paul Evanko recalled the events of that fateful day in Pennsylvania, from the moment he heard a plane had hit one of the World Trade Center towers to his arrival at the Flight 93 crash site in a field in Somerset County.

Aside from sharing his memories in the state police video compiled below, Evanko shared his handwritten field notes from the day of the attack with the Pennsylvania State Archives in 2016.

For the first time, those notes are on public display at The State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg.
