There’s a risk of flash flooding Wednesday afternoon and evening as a storm system pushes through with soaking rain.

The system will begin dropping rain during the afternoon hours and continue until early Thursday morning. It could bring as much as 2 inches of rain and possible strong, damaging winds that have the potential to bring down limbs and power lines. The region could also see some isolated tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.

“The main period of concern is during the evening hours as a line moves through west to east. However, there may be some scattered storms that form ahead of the line this afternoon,” forecasters said in a Wednesday morning briefing.

A Flash Flood Watch will be in effect for the area during the storm.

The storm follows last week’s river and creek flooding caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida. The storm flooded out numerous houses along the Neshaminy Creek in Bristol Township, Hulmeville Borough, and Middletown Township. It also brought a tornado touch to the area.
