Bristol Township’s Third District Fire Company has received a large grant for new equipment.
The volunteer fire company received a $638,545 2020 Assistance to Firefighters Grant through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA.)

In a statement, the fire company said the money will fund the replacement of aging breathing apparatus for firefighters.
While the grant was awarded to the Third District Fire Company, it will also help the Bristol, Bristol Consolidated, Cornwells, and Newportville fire companies with the purchase of self-contained breathing apparatus.
The companies self-contained breathing apparatus are approaching the end of the operational life expectancy, officials aid.

The new self-contained breathing apparatus will be equipped with the most up-to-date safety features that will allow the firefighter’s to work in toxic and hazardous atmospheres that they encounter on a daily basis, as they provide fire protection to their communities, officials said.
The fire company thanked Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick for his support in obtaining the grant.
