The final data, which will be used to redraw congressional districts and allot government funding, was released by federal officials Thursday afternoon.

The First Congressional District, which is all of Bucks County and a portion of eastern Montgomery County, had its population increase by 3.8 percent. Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, a Middletown Township resident, has represented the district since 2017.

An estimate released by Census officials in spring said the population had grown between 2010 and 2020 by a smaller number of .4 percent, a roughly 2,700 resident increase. However, officials noted those numbers were not finalized and the numbers released Thursday represent a more accurate picture.

The county had a 5 percent drop in the White population and a 4.8 percent decrease in the American Indian population.

The data revealed Bucks County’s population growth, which peaked at 113 percent between 1950 and 1960, has slowed in recent decades. The county had a 10.4 percent increase between 1990 and 2000 and a 4.6 percent increase between 2000 and 2010. The county saw widespread growth in the decades after World War II.
