Police in Langhorne Borough are warning residents of a phone call scheme involving scammers targeting locals.
In reported calls, the male caller identified himself as either Sgt. Snyder or Officer Gilmore of the “Langhorne Police Department.” He then claimed the person has missed a court date. In at least one case, the scammer requested gift cards be purchased to satisfy a fine, police said.

Caller ID indicated calls came from either 215-583-8369 or 215-583-8914 in North Wales, police said.
The scam appears to be targeting nurses from an area hospital, police said.
“Neither Snyder or Gilmore are names of police officers in Langhorne and no one would even ask for gift cards or bitcoin,” said police Chief John Godzieba.”The best thing to do when receiving a call that requests gift cards is to hang up immediately. This is part of most scams out there today. Once the scammer gets the card numbers, they are quickly used before the victim can cancel them.”
