Bucks County Technical High School is looking for newer-model car, trucks, and motorcycles.

Dr. Leon Poeske, the administrative director for the area technical high school, wrote in a letter to the community that the school is in “serious need” of the vehicles so students can train and practice on vehicles with newer components that fit modern regulations.

Below is the letter from Poeske:

Dear Friend of BCTHS:

I need your help. Bucks County Technical High School (BCTHS) is in serious need of newer model vehicles, trucks, and motorcycles. Please consider donating and/or loaning a vehicle, truck, motorcycle, etc. that is a newer model. Our students deserve to learn and practice on current technology in order to fully understand all of the new components and regulations in the industry.

Our current inventory of vehicles is woefully outdated. For example, out of all of the cam our students use for training, our “newest” vehicle is a 2012 VW Passat. That is 10-year old technology!! Most of the other vehicles BCTHS has were designed and put on the market over 15 years ago. In our Diesel Technology program, all of the trucks/vehicles are over 20 years old. In our Small Engine class, all but one of the motorcycles/snowmobiles/jet skis is over 20 years old.

BCTHS prides itself on having students use state-of-the-art equipment in order to be prepared for a career in their chosen technical field. Our diesel teacher begs for a vehicle/truck that is a 2012 model or newer in order to have students practice on a truck that meets the new emission standards and technologies. Our other automotive teachers would like any vehicle that is no more than five years old.

In the past, the automotive industry was generous with technical schools like ours to provide new model vehicles on a regular basis. Over the years, this has trickled to a stop and now we are desperate for donations and/or loaners. Please consider helping BCTHS with a donation. Please contact me for fuller information.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Leon Poeske, Administrative Director
