The Bristol Borough School Board and the district’s superintendent are committed to working on the issues that led to police involvement late last month, the district solicitor said Thursday evening.
Solicitor David Truelove said the “incident has been resolved” and school board members will take part in training and all board members and administration will attend a retreat to foster a “culture of respect and communication.”

Truelove said the school board appreciates Superintendent Dr. Rose Minniti and is “committed to educating itself.”
The “incident” Truelove referenced was a disagreement between School Board President David Chichilitti and Minniti at the high school. According to sources with knowledge of the incident, Chichilitti blew up at Minniti and reportedly ended up damaging a security camera.
Minniti ended up engaging an attorney at a prominent New Jersey law firm that focuses on business matters and local government. The attorney declined to comment when asked about a letter sent to school board members last week.

The letter sent to board members, the contents of which were reviewed by this news organization late last week, made allegations Chichilitti had taken part in “egregious behavior” against the superintendent, spoke of turning down her potential pay raises, and threatened to have other impacts on her job.
In the letter, Minniti asked the school board to remove Chichilitti, a longtime school board member who is seeking reelection, from his leadership role and censure him. It also called for training on the roles school board members have in district operations.

A source with knowledge of district operations said the proper role of school board members in day-to-day operation of the district has been an ongoing problem over the years.
The Friday, April 30 incident led to a police being called and taking a report. No charges have been filed.
“The Bristol Borough police took a report of an incident which took place at the Bristol Borough High School on April 30th. No students were present or involved in the incident,” police Chief Steve Henry said last week.

Truelove said the school board met in executive session on Tuesday and before Thursday evening’s public meeting. He said personnel matters were discussed.
School board members didn’t comment further on the situation at the meeting.

Minniti was hired by the district in 2019 and has been well-received in the community.
