Middle schoolers and high schoolers in the Bristol Borough School District will return to classrooms for five-day instruction starting next week.
The school board approved a plan last week that would expand the hybrid model to in-person instruction for the whole week for the older students. The expansion will first be for students already taking part in the four-day per week hybrid model.

Superintendent Dr. Rose Minniti said students enrolled in the virtual-learning option will be able to switch to the full-week, in-person model at the end of the third quarter.
The five-day per week plan does not apply to the elementary school, which remains under the hybrid model.
Minniti wrote the following outline in a letter to parents:
Students will participate in four full days of instruction Monday through Thursday, and a half day of live instruction on Friday, with asynchronous activities in the afternoon. Lunches on Friday will be grab-and-go as students leave the building.
The health and safety of our school community is our primary concern. The schedule and protocols that we have in place will allow our students to maintain a 6-foot social distance at all times while in the building. Although we do not anticipate that maintaining a 6-foot. social distance will be a problem in any classroom based on the number of students currently enrolled in the hybrid program, we have an overspill room set up in case there is an issue. In such a case, students will be assigned to the overspill room on a rotating basis for a class period before returning to instruction with their normal class. We will also utilize both the cafeteria and the gym for lunches so students can be socially distanced while eating. Be assured, all of the other protocols outlined in our Health and Safety Plan will be followed. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the District.

During last week’s school board meeting, Minniti said the decision was made after surveying parents and teachers.
Students returning will continue to practice COVID-19 safety measures.
