The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors are expected to vote on a new apartment inspection program in the new year.
The municipality is looking to move the current apartment inspection program from the Middletown Township Department of Fire and Emergency Management to the Department of Building and Zoning, which already oversees many building codes and inspections.

The township is making the change as the fire and emergency management team has an increased emergency response role and as officials look to create a “more comprehensive” rental and apartment inspection program, Township Manager Stephanie Teoli Kuhls said.
The township plans to perform inspections every two years and at tenant changes, which is already part of the program.
At their meeting earlier this month, the Middletown Township Board of Supervisors voted to moved from TD Bank to Republic Bank.

Middletown Township Director of Finance Mega Bhandary said the township’s new bank offered a better proposal to the township.
