A former Bucks County register of wills is assisting with the Pennsylvania auditor general-elect’s transition into office.
Attorney Don Petrille, who works at the law firm of High Swartz, will serve Pennsylvania Auditor General-Elect Tim DeFoor’s transition team in looking at the status and scope of pending litigation and the extent of the auditor generalโs authority. His role on the team will also plot the legal strategy for the statewide office, review existing legal staff, and pending human resource issues, according to a press release.

โIโm anxious to apply my knowledge of state, county and municipal governments to the legal issues faced by the auditor generalโs office during a time of transition. Intergovernmental relations, between governmental branches, and within our stateโs political subdivisions are significant issues. My combination of courtroom and business experience will serve the team well,” Petrille said.
After losing the register of wills race in 2019 after eight years in office, Petrille returned to legal practice. He has served as the president of the Pennsylvania State Association of Elected County Officials and the president of the Registers of Wills and Clerks of the Orphansโ Court Association of Pennsylvania.
DeFoor, a Republican and the first person of color to hold statewide office, will take office in January. He succeeds Auditor General Eugene DePasquale, a Democrat who maxed out his term.

The auditor general is the state’s fiscal watchdog. The office runs audits and examinations on how taxpayer funds are spent and state programs are run.
