Middletown Township is seeking to replace a crumbling pedestrian bridge connecting the Snowball Gate and Forsythia Gate neighborhoods.
The Board of Supervisors voted on Monday evening to advertise for bids to fabricate a pedestrian bridge to cross the Mill Creek.

The pedestrian bridge was closed earlier this year due to a “structural failure,” township Building and Zoning Director Pat Ennis said.
If there is a suitable bid and a bridge order is approved, the new span will be slightly larger than the current structure. The new bridge will be 6 feet wide and meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility regulations, Ennis said.
Ennis said that if everything goes according to plan, the new bridge could be in place by spring 2021.

In other business, the supervisors voted to approve hiring local contractor Precision Homes and Building Group to install a new asphalt shingle roof, new dormer, and new fascia board and gutters on the historic farm house at Spring Valley Farm.
Precision Homes and Building Group was the lowest bidder at $16,585.

The supervisors also approved purchasing 2,500 square feet of Sport Court modular flooring for the kickwall project at Middletown Community Park from Marturano Recreation Company for $17,175.
The Middletown Community Park project is largely been funded by a grant.
