Marking a break from tradition in the Levittown area, there won’t be any parades this Memorial Day weekend.

The Croydon, Penndel-Hulmeville, and Langhorne Borough Memorial Day parades were all cancelled in recent weeks due to COVID-19.

Despite the cancellations, residents will still be able to honor veterans who have fought to protect America.

Along the route of the parade in Penndel Borough and Hulmeville Borough, there were still efforts to place ribbons in honor of service members who died, and the Joseph Schumacher VFW Post in Bristol Township’s Croydon section encouraged residents to wear remembrance poppy pins on Monday to honor those who died.

In Tullytown Borough, residents were invited to a 9 a.m. Saturday service at the corner of Main Street and Fallsington Avenue that will lead to the nearby cemetery to mark Memorial Day. Residents were reminded to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.

The American Legion of Langhorne plans to stream a virtual Memorial Day ceremony on Facebook at 10 a.m. Monday.

Despite the pandemic, local groups are showing that Americans will still come together to remember the fallen.
