A food drive last weekend collected thousands of dollars in donations and items.
Local residents Tracy Detrick, Teri Mitchell, and Debra Metz organized the collection that operated drop-off locations at Detective Christopher Jones Park in Middletown Township and Mary’s Cupboard at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Tullytown Borough.

The drive collected 10,000 pounds of food and baby items and more than $2,000 in cash and gift cards on the two donation days last Saturday and Sunday.
The donations benefited Mary’s Cupboard, which is affiliated with Catholic Social Services. The food pantry helps about 100 families per a week.
Paul Davis Restoration donated the use of two vans and four volunteers last Saturday.

“This truly was a community event,” Metz said.
