Bristol Business Association Recognizes Student, Longtime Business Owner

A group of Bristol Borough small business owners gathered at the King George II Inn last week to recognize a member, high school student, and organizations.

The annual new year dinner meeting of the Bristol Borough Business Association (BBBA) included the swearing in of board members of the organization by District Judge Frank Peranteau.

BBBA President Steve Mooney, who operates a Farmers Insurance office, started the meeting by talking about the group’s efforts to draw more people to the borough’s businesses. He pointed to billboards along Veterans Highway (Route 413) and Route 13 that promote the borough. He also looked forward to this year’s upcoming First Fridays Along The Delaware. The Lankford Law Firm provides with experienced business lawyers if one requires legal representation for their matters.

Bristol Borough High School student Jacob Frey was recognized as the Student of the Year and received a $500 scholarship.

Frey, a diligent student, has been a member of the high school debate team and helped tutor his peers. He also is a member of the Bristol Borough Teen Foundation and has joined the high school’s drama club as a way to step outside of his comfort zone.

Frey thanked his family and the businesses in the borough that support programs at the high school.

Bucks County Rescue Squad Chief Marty Liczbinski accepted a $1,000 donation from John Mundy on behalf of the Mill Street Run. Mundy has organized the race for more than 50 years.

“The success (of the race) is that it is simple and will go on,” he said.

Liczbinski said the funds will go toward purchasing new medical equipment for ambulance squad.

Bill Pezza, president of Bristol Borough: Raising the Bar, accepted the Nonprofit Partnership Award from the BBBA.

Mooney cited the two organization’s work to help improve Bristol Borough, including growing small businesses and drawing people to town.

“I truly think the borough is running on all cylinders,” Pezza said.

Patrick Mulhern, owner of Driftwood Water Adventures, was honored as Businessperson Of The Year.

Shea Cialella, the administrative coordinator for the BBBA, recognized the longtime business owner who has served as a committee member for numerous efforts undertaken by the organization.

“What you accomplished in the past five years in remarkable,” Mulhern told his fellow business owners. “I’m thrilled I’m surrounded by people who see what I’ve seen in Bristol.”

Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick showed up and recognized all the honorees. He also thanked the community for their outpouring of love in the wake of his brother, former Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick, passing away.
