356 Jobs To Be Lost As Rite Aid To Close Both Falls Twp. Distribution Centers

The rumors are true – Rite Aid will be closing two distribution centers in Falls Township.

According to information posted by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, Rite Aid sent Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notices this month to 356 employees at the warehouses on 8 Queen Ann Court in the Langhorne section of the township and one at 1 Geoffrey Drive in the Morrisville section. The effective date for the layoff is December 4.

Rumors have swirled for weeks about the closure of the facilities. A spokesperson for Rite Aid told LevittownNow.com that the company planned to close distribution centers but declined to confirm if the Falls Township locations were included. A call to another spokesman was not returned.

The Queen Ann Court facility is owned by the company and the Geoffrey Drive one is rented.

The Rite Aid distribution center were part of a of a multi-billion dollar deal with Walgreens Boots Alliance last year. The acquisition of Rite Aide was made up of close to 2,000 locations and a few distribution centers, according to a company spokesperson.
