A little under five years after opening, Italian fast casual restaurant Zio Gio will close Saturday.

The eatery on Veterans Highway (Route 413) in Bristol Township’s Levittown will serve customers Saturday before shuttering.

“We have to express our immense gratitude to all of you for your love, support and friendship over the past several years. It has been our great privilege to serve you, and we deeply appreciate everyone who made coming to Zio Gio part of their routine,” a post on Zio Gio’s Facebook read.

Philadelphia-area natives John Marsella and Jim Nasuti, who had led franchise-owned restaurant company Summerwood Corporation, opened their own concept in Bristol Township in 2015. The eatery had trouble catching on in the location and refreshed its menu and image several times over the years.

Zio Gio was known for its scratch menu items and focus on drive-thru service.

Zio Gio was built on the site of a former Summerwood Corporation-operated Taco Bell that moved to a new location near Bucks County Community College’s Bristol Township campus.

At one point, Zio Gio had looked at expanding to other locations in the region.

On their Facebook page, Zio Gio posted that they “don’t know what the future will hold for us yet, but we will update you when we do.”
