The Bristol Borough School District has its new superintendent.

Dr. Rose Minniti, a longtime educator and administrator, was hired by the school board for a close to five-year term beginning August 1 and running through June 30, 2024. All of the board members in attendance voted to hire the district’s new leader.

The school board welcomed Minniti to the district of about 1,200 students. They also acknowledged the work of current Superintendent Dr. Thomas Shaffer, who will retire in summer after 30 years in the district.

“I’d like to congratulate Dr. Mintti and welcome her to the Bristol Borough School District,” board member Mary Jane Potena-Paglione said.

Minniti will head to Bristol Borough after working as a teacher, professor, principal, and superintendent in Northeastern Pennsylvania. She currently is the superintendent of the 2,600-student Valley View School District in Lackawanna County.

“I’m excited to become a part of Bristol Borough school family. I believe that the school system is the heart of the community. Its success depends on the Superintendent’s ability to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for students to grow and develop as learners and citizens, and to integrate quality programs and teaching strategies to foster 21st century skills while ensuring fiscal responsibility. I believe the Bristol Borough School District possesses all the fundamentals that are central to achieving great success and look forward to involving all community stakeholders in making our district the best it can be,” Minniti said in a statement when she was announced as a finalist for the job.

The Bucks County Intermediate Unit led the search to replace Shaffer. They sought input from the district’s stakeholders and held a public forum earlier this month before the board moved to hire Minniti.

Minniti will earn a salary of $140,000 per year with a base of 3 percent annual raise included.
