Two Local Rail Projects Get State Money

Two area rail projects will receive state funding.

Gov. Tom Wolf’s office announced Monday that theย East Penn Railroad will receiveย $210,000 in state funds to rehabilitate approximately two miles of track on the Bristol Line and extend a rail siding by 1,000 feet. The line runs between industrial parks in Bristol Township and crosses Route 13 near Green Lane.

SEPTA has been awardedย $700,000 in state money to acquire and install positive train control (PTC) equipment on four Pennsylvania Northeast Railroad locomotives that serve Bucks and Montgomery counties.

The two projects with local impacts were among 27 railย freight improvement projects that received state money this week.

Wolf’s office said the projects willย help create and sustain 255 jobs across Pennsylvania.
