Bristol Township is preparing to shutdown the Wistar Road bridge that crosses the Queen Anne Creek.
Starting next Monday, February 18, the Fairless Hills bridge will close and traffic will be blocked between Parkway Drive and South Queen Anne Drive so the concrete deck can be replaced after years of cracking and crumbling.

The span, which was dedicated in 1978, is expected to remain closed until mid-July.
Township Engineer Kurt Schroeder of Gilmore and Associates told LevittownNow.com last fall that the bridge overall remained safe, but the damage to the deck has been expanding and needs to be repaired.

The township budgeted $1,285,000 for the replacement of the bridge this year. Late last year, the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Bucks awarded the township $300,000 from the funds generated by Parx Casino to put toward the project.

Eastern Highway Specialists Inc. will handle the reconstruction.
The bridge has had steel plates covering holes that have grown in size since 2014 when minor repair work took place.
