Tuesday Evening Flash Flooding Overtakes Numerous Roads

Flash flooding closed a number of roads in the Levittown area Tuesday evening.

Storms that rolled through dropped a significant amount of rain in a short period of time. A Flash Flood Warning was issued by the National Weather Service until 8:15 p.m.

Green Lane near the Pennsylvania Turnpike overpass in Bristol Township, South Olds Boulevard near Pennsbury High School in Falls Township, the area of Plaza Boulevard in Falls Township, Trenton Road between Bristol-Oxford Valley Road and Woodbourne Road in Middletown, Red Cedar Drive in Bristol Township, a portion of Bellevue Avenue in Penndel, and Vermillion Way and Vermillion Lane in Falls Township were all blocked by high water. In flood-prone Bristol Borough, Green Lane under the railroad bridge, McKinley Street, portions of Pond Street, Harrison Avenue, and parts of the Mill Street Parking lot were flooded from the rain, according to readers and emergency responders. The situation was not much different in Bensalem and Morrisville Borough.

“My 15 minute drive from Newtown to Bensalem took me 45 minutes,” LevittownNow.com reader Heather Vogel said.

“As the water makes its way through the river and stream system, further rising of streams and creeks can be expected,” forecasters at the National Weather Service said.

There was a chance of showers throughout Tuesday night, but flooding was expected to subside.
