Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said fire crews and medics began CPR and advanced life support treatment at the scene.

The man’s condition was not released as of late Wednesday.

The fire was caused by a pot of grease that overheated on the stove and was contained to that area, Dippolito said.

While the fire was small, it created a significant smoke condition, the fire marshal said.

Only one apartment was damaged.
