Neshaminy High School senior Catie Turner is moving to “American Idol’s” next round.

The Middletown resident received the golden ticket during her New York audition from celebrity judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. While the episode was shot in October, it aired Sunday evening during the debut of ABC’s iteration of “American Idol.”
The self-taught singer-songwriter performed her own creation for the judges. The song – “21st Century Machine” – was about society’s idea of what a young woman should be.
“You’re a spectacular songwriter. I love where your mind is,” Perry said.

“Every once in a while a Martian lands, and we happen to see the Martian,” Richie said. “I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to see you. I’m just fascinated with your brain.”

Bryan cautioned the high schooler not to worry about what people say about her on social media and just hone her talent.
Catie told LevittownNow.com recently that she began singing at 11 after watching YouTube videos. From there, she auditioned for several singing competitions before her “American Idol” break.
