Members of the Bucks County Hazardous Incident Response Team safely removed a container of highly toxic potassium cyanide from a home in Penndel Wednesday afternoon.

Bellevue Avenue between Parkview and Hulmeville avenues was closed for a portion of the afternoon by fire police while emergency crews secured and removed the dangerous chemicals that were found by a person clearing out a deceased relatives homes, officials said.
Penndel police, the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad responded along with the Parkland, Penndel, Langhorne-Middletown and William Penn fire companies to secure the scene. The Bucks County Hazardous Incident Response Team was called in to place the potassium cyanide in a sealed container and remove it from the home, Penndel Fire Marshal Jim Bampfield said.
Two people were evaluated by medics and turned down going to the hospital for an examination.

It was not immediately clear why the former resident of the 700 block of Bellevue Avenue had potassium cyanide in a toolbox in their home.
