The Middletown Community Foundation made a generous donation and check presentation to the police department.

Bill Cowan of the Middletown Community Foundation was present at Monday’s Board of Supervisors meeting to give the $10,000 check to fund a new K-9 unit to Chief Joseph Bartorilla and Officer Stephen Andrews.

Andrews was joined by his new K-9 partner, Jester.

Jester is part German Shepard and part Malonois, and after his training he will be a bomb detection dog.

“We at the foundation are proud of our police department and proud to be part of this,” Cowan said before giving the check, which will cover Jester and the cost of his training.

Late last year,ย Brian Bentley, owner of Brianโ€™s Harley-Davidson; attorney Tom Hecker from Begley Carlin & Mandio; Jim Merrill, CEO of Inspire Federal Credit Union, wereย “arrested” and could only be released if their “bail” was met. The money went toward the fundraiser.
