A new cell phone tower will be going up in Falls Township.

Verizon received preliminary and final land development approval for the 120-foot-tall tower from the Falls Board of Supervisors at their Monday evening meeting.

Kenneth Farrell, an engineer working on the project for Verizon, told the board the tower would be situated on its own 50-foot by 50-foot compound in the landscaping yard located at 149 Falls-Tullytown Road, not too far from Route 13. The tower will have a tree design with a brown color and green antennas in an attempt to blend into the nearby foliage.

Verizon needs the tower to improve service and capacity in the Levittown area.

The tower in the area has been in the works for more than a year.
