Langhorne Borough Council recently honored one of its part-time police officers for life-saving actions he took.

Mayor Joe Taylor recently gave Officer Michael Maninio a proclamation to recognize him for working with another law enforcement officer to save the life of a young man who was trying to hang himself on August 1 at nearby Core Creek Park in Middletown.

According to the proclamation, Maninio was working at his full-time job as a Bucks County Ranger when he and Ranger George Vile responded to a call at the county park that the young man was attempting to hang himself from a tree. Maninio and Vile climbed the tree and were able to hold the young man while Maninio grabbed a knife and cut the strap the young man was using to try to kill himself.

Due to the actions of Maninio and Vile, the young man’s life was saved.
