A sign insulting police was found around 6 a.m. Monday in Falls Township.
The sign featured brown spray paint on a piece of plywood and read, “only good cop is a dead cop…..” The message was found hanging along Lincoln Highway, police said.

“I would like to challenge the person or persons who made and hung the sign to stop into the police department and speak to us. I know whoever did this did it out of ignorance. I would like to sit down with them and show them what we do as police officers so they can base their opinion on facts and not ignorance. I doubt they will do this because they hung the sign in the middle of the night like a true coward that I think they are. But prove me wrong and lets get together maybe we can learn something from each other,” the longtime lawman said.
Ward stressed that he understood the sign was “well within their rights to hold such an opinion.” He added that it was ironic the sign was found on the anniversary of D-Day, which is “when thousands of young Americans died to make sure an idiot or idiots like this can express their opinions.”
