Edgely Fire Company Chief Carl Pierce said volunteer firefighters worked for about 15 minutes to remove the dash, door and roof of the Pontiac to free the passenger, who was heavily pinned. The driver was out of the vehicle by the time fire crews arrived.

The driver and passenger, who was seriously injured, were rushed by ambulance to area hospitals, Pierce said.

Further information on the cause of the crash was not immediately available.
