How many shoes are in your closet? Too many? How many do you no longer wear? A lot? Then it is time to donate your neglected and forgotten shoes to Harry S. Truman High School’s Environmental Club. Bristol Township School District students, in partnership with Community Recycling, are collecting gently worn shoes for a shoe drive to benefit those in need around the world.

On January 7, 2016, donation boxes were placed in the high school’s main office and in room B-1.The following types of gently used shoes are being accepted: athletic, casual and dress shoes, work boots, sneakers, sandals, heels, flats, and loafers.
With more than 300 million pairs of shoes hitting landfills each year, recycling, rather than tossing unwanted, yet useful shoes, can be turned into a force for good.
Community Recycling’s Shoebox Program finds “SoleMates” for donated shoes. The shoes are sent to those in need throughout the world where they are repurposed or repaired and given new life.
