The single-car crash at the intersection of Bridgetown Pike and Langhorne-Newtown Road was reported to Bucks County dispatchers at 12:34 p.m. Just a minute later, the call was upgraded to an extrication and firefighters from the Langhorne-Middletown, Penndel and Northampton fire companies responded with police and medics.

Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company Chief Frank Farry said the man’s car obliterated a utility pole at the intersection, slammed into a tree and came to rest on a hedge. The man was trapped by the hedge that his car came to rest upon.

Firefighters cut the hedge and were able to free the man through a car door, Farry said, adding the man was able to call his wife to alert her of the crash.

Medics transported the man to nearby St. Mary Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
