Middletown Township police say one woman attempted to use her sister’s identity when she was apprehended by loss prevention officers for committing her fifth shoplifting offense.
Lenore Orrell, 37, of New Hope, was arrested and charged with two felonies and one misdemeanor in the case, including charges for retail theft, receiving stolen property, and falsely incriminating another. She was arraigned and sent to prison on 10 percent of $50,000 bail.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Orrell was seen by a loss prevention officer concealing nearly a dozen jewelry and makeup products in a large black purse at the J C Penney store at the Oxford Valley Mall on Saturday. The store’s loss prevention officers, which used constant surveillance on Orrell, watched her pass all points of sale at the store before making her way outside. It was then that she was approached by a LP officer and brought back to the store’s office.
Orrell was found in possession of 10 items, including eye shadow, lotion and jewelry, which added up to nearly $200.
As noted in a probable cause affidavit, Orrell provided LP with her sister’s birth date, and provided police with her sister’s name, before correctly identifying herself. She also told officers she did not know her social security number.

According to court documents, Orrell has been found guilty for retail theft on four separate occasions, she also had two warrants, one with Bucks County for a failure to appear, and another with the Central Bucks Regional Police Department for shoplifting.
Orrell awaits a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 30.
