SEPTA’s West Trenton Line saw a spike in ridership following the deadly Philadelphia Amtrak rail crash that killed eight peopleย last month.

According to SEPTA data, ridership grewย by roughly 15 percent in the three days following the crash. During that time period, Amtrak shut down a portion of the heavily-traveled Northeast corridor and SEPTA halted the Trenton Line that runs through Bristol, Croydon and Levittown.

The majority of the increase in ridership was along the West Trenton Line that runs through Langhorne and Middletown. Those attempting to find parking at the station had trouble in the days following the crash.

The Northeast Corridor shutdown was unprecedented and lasted until Monday, May 18.
