Bristol Borough resident Cody Bryant worked hard and saved to purchase his Suzuki GSX-R600. On Tuesday night, he alleges a man who said he was interested in purchasing that motorcycle stole it from him.

Bryant said he was selling the motorcycle on Craigslist and was contacted by the man he alleges drove off on his motorcycle outside the Neshaminy Mall on what was supposed to be a test drive.

Bryant and his brother, who has a license to carry a gun and was doing so at the time, met with the man in the parking lot of the Bensalem mall at 8 p.m. The man they were supposed to meet “came out of nowhere” and said his girlfriend was inside the mall with the money needed to purchase the motorcycle.

“He kept talking about getting robbed and making sure I wasn’t going to rob him,” Bryant recalled to LevittownNow.com Wednesday afternoon.

The man gave Bryant a license plate and a cell phone in exchange for the test drive. The 20 year old took his license plate off the motorcycle to make it easier for police to spot if it was taken, just in case, he said. Bryant also gave the man his helmet and riding gloves.

The brothers watched the man take off on the motorcycle and drive away from the mall.

Bryant said after realizing the man was not coming back with the motorcycle, he called 9-1-1 and tried to find the motorcycle but it was too late.

Bensalem police arrived and worked with Bryant to try to identify the alleged thief.

Bryant took to social media and shared his story with LevittownNow.com in hopes of recovering the motorcycle.

A slew of tips have come in through social media and Bryant’s efforts to talk to mall officials but nothing concrete as of Wednesday afternoon. He said the license plate the man left with him might be a clue, police told him, but the cell phone was cracked and through a pre-paid carrier.

Lt. William McVey said the incident is an “active case” and police would not be releasing further information.

“It’s definitely a horrible feeling seeing something I worked months for vanish that quickly,” the 20 year old said. “I was going to use that money to get a bigger bike or pay off school bills.”

The 20 year old said he has a warning for locals who are selling items on Craigslist – “Absolutely only meet the buyer at the police station.”

Earlier this year, several Levittown-area police departments said they allow Craigslist exchanges in their parking lots as a way to keep residents safe.
