Cops: Saturday Night Police Chase Reached Speeds Around 100 MPH

A Philadelphia man was taken into custody after a police chase in Bristol Township, according to authorities.

An officer backing up a colleague on a traffic stop in the area of I-95 and Veterans Highway (Route 413) spotted a Ford F-250 pickup driving about a foot away from the vehicle’s bumper around 9:45 p.m. Saturday. The officer took off and tried to pull over the pickup driven by Nestor Esteban Quiros-Fonseca, 22, police said.

Officer Jason Manucso wrote in court papers that the pickup spotted the police car, with its lights and sirens activated, and drove on the grassy shoulder to get around the car in front of it. When the officer looked at his speedometer, he noted he was traveling 95 MPH to keep up with the fleeing pickup, police said.

Manucso radioed Bucks County dispatched and followed Quiros-Fonseca for more than 1.5 miles before the pickup pulled over, court papers read.

The officer wrote in documents that Quiros-Fonseca pulled over as he approached heavier traffic he couldn’t pass.

The cab of Quiros-Fonseca’s pickup cab emitted a “strong” odor of alcoholic beverage and the 22 year old did not have a valid license on him, according to court papers.

Quiros-Fonseca failed two field sobriety test and was taken to the hospital for blood draws, which will be tested, police said.

Quiros-Fonseca is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, DUI, driving without a license, reckless driving and disregarding a traffic signal. He was arraigned before by an on-call district judge early Sunday morning and remanded to Bucks County prison on 10 percent of $35,000 bail.
