A defendant who allegedly made threats in district court was charged multiple counts witness intimidation and a single count of disorderly conduct this week.

Police also allege that Conyers got up and tried to exit the District Judge Joanne Kline’s courtroom while in custody and in the middle of his preliminary hearing. The actions of Conyers reportedly caused friends and family of the 22 year old and his co-defendants to further disrupt court proceedings.

“This is something to do on a Wednesday afternoon?” an angry judge said to Conyers following and outburst, according to a newspaper report.

Police and constables were needed to help restore order to the courtroom.

Police said officers had to escort the victim and his family to their vehicles after testimony.

Conyers, who is already in prison unable to post bail for the robbery charge, had bail set for the witness intimidation case set at 10 percent of $250,000.
