Upon arrival, volunteer firefighters found wood left outside an open fireplace had caught ablaze after the homeowner had left to attend church, Croydon Fire Company Chief Tom Tryon said.
While damage from the flames was limited, smoke filled the residence, Troyon said.
Crews from Bristol (Station 51), Newportville, Nottingham and Third District fire companies assisted Croydon firefighters at the scene.

No injuries were reported.
Tryon noted Saturday’s fire was one of several recent fireplace related blazes in Bucks County. He urged residents to keep all objects at least four feet from the fireplace.
