UPDATE: Investigators With Search Warrant Return To Homicide Scene

Pennsylvania State Police allege Kyle J. Simpson stabbed his uncle inside the North Bellevue Avenue home in Langhorne they shared along with other family members.

Simpson, 24, is accused of stabbing Stanley Taylor Jr., 58, shortly before midnight on Wednesday inside 124 North Bellevue Avenue. Taylor, who is brother of Langhorne Mayor Joesph Taylor, was pronounced dead shortly after midnight on Thursday at St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown.

A police source said troopers responding to the stabbing found Stanley Taylor with a “life-threatening wound” to his stomach.

Simpson was reported to be intoxicated and had to be Tasered at the time of his arrest, sources said.

Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler said the stabbing happened after Taylor and Simpson were involved in a “fracas.”

State police, detectives and a crime scene truck were at the scene of the homicide Thursday afternoon. Troopers put yellow crime scene tape outside the house. At least half a dozen state police vehicles were parked along North Bellevue Avenue as neighbors looked on.

One resident of the street said there was a large amount of police outside the scene of the stabbing around midnight Wednesday. State police said Middletown officers assisted them at the scene.

Simpson was charged Thursday afternoon with criminal homicide and possession of an instrument of crime. He was arraigned and sent to Bucks County prison without bail due to the homicide charge.

Heckler said state police obtained a search warrant for the house Thursday.

Simpson lived in the house with Stanley Taylor, his aunt and sister, an official said.

The homicide marks the first in Bucks County in 2015. A “suspicious” death was reported in Bensalem a few hours after the Langhorne incident, Heckler said.

Bucks County’s first homicide of 2015 happened in Langhorne Borough, authorities said.

A man was stabbed around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday night in the 100 block of North Bellevue Avenue, authorities said. Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler said it was his understanding the victim was trying to break up a scuffle when he was stabbed.

Pennsylvania State Police were handling law enforcement coverage of the borough at the time and responded to the scene.

The victim was transported to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown and passed away while in surgery, authorities said.

Kyle J. Simpson, 24, of Langhorne, was arrested and charged with criminal homicide and possession of an instrument of crime in connection with the death.

Heckler confirmed the stabbing constituted Bucks County first homicide of 2015 because the victim passed away in the new year. The county’s second homicide reportedly happened Thursday after sunrise in Bensalem.

Investigators were continuing to probe the homicide as of 1 p.m. Thursday, the district attorney said.

Simpson was arraigned at noon Thursday and sent to Bucks County prison without bail.
