PECO Says It’s Ready for Winter

PECO, whichย recently held an informational session regarding its ability to maintain customer demands and keep the light on in Falls Township, has released a statement that it’s ready to meet customer demand through the upcoming Winter season.

“With colder weather just around the corner, PECO is completing the final work to ensure its electric and natural gas systems are ready to serve customers all winter long,” the November 4 statement read.

According to PECO it has completed a thorough review of its electric system, including more than 22,000 miles of aerial and underground lines and other electrical equipment. The work PECO has done for the upcoming season is part of a $500 million plan to provide safe as well as reliable electricity for its customers.

In addition, PECO has secured its natural gas supply and completed filling storage facilieies to serve its more than 500,000 natural gas customers. PECO typically invests nearly $90 million in the company’s natural gas system.

PECO has completed over 50 projects to replace more than 46,000 feet of existing natural gas lines with ย plastic pipe. The plastic pipe will enhance safety and is more durable.

PECO, in their latest statement has informed customers to turn on their heaters and test their systems before overnight temperatures dip into the 30s to ensure everything is working properly. PECO also recommends customers contact their heating contractor to schedule a service call if their heater hasn’t been inspected or cleaned in the last two years.
