Bucks Leaders to Host Event, Stress Importance of State-Wide Pre-K

Pre-K for PA will join County Commissioners Rob Loughery and Diane Marseglia, as well as other notable Bucks County leaders and educators August 20 at the Emilie Christian Day School at 7300 New Falls Road in Levittown at 10:45 a.m. Bucks County local elected officials and educators will visit the STAR 4 pre-k program in an effort to ensure the importance of high-quality pre-k during ‘back to school time’.

The organization will be hosting a series of these ‘Back to School’ events at various preschools across the state to reiterate the need for such high-quality education for the state’s three and four year olds. Since according to experts, 72% of Bucks County children will not be ready or prepared for kindergarten come this fall. ย While there are some opportunities for families to get their child enrolled in a high-quality Pre-K program, of the 14,384 three and four year old children in Bucks, 37% of them live in families 300% below the poverty line, and are unfortunately forced to place their children in programs that lack essential elements to their child’s success.

These events are the essential scope of the Pre-K for PA ย issue campaign, whichย strives for a world in which every three and four year old in Pennsylvania has the access to high-quality pre-k.
