The business manager has overseen the finances of the cash-strapped district since 2011. Before that, he worked as business administrator for the Reading School District. He resigned in 2011 to a storm of controversy over how he performed his job. The Reading Eagle Newspaper published an investigative story on the problems. According to Steffy’s LinkedIn account, he also previously served as chief financial officer at the Penn-Delco School District.
Steffy replaced longtime Bristol Township School District employee Gerry Barcik. Barcik retired in 2011 after tending to the district’s finances for 30 years. He worked with Steffy as he transitioned into his new role.
Steffy’s new contract means he will oversee the district’s finances as it undergoes elementary consolidation and construction of three new schools.
