Same-day delivery for Amazon.com customers in the Philadelphia area is here.
“Starting today, customers can order as late as noon, seven days a week and get things like popular movies, video games, last-minute travel needs, back-to-school supplies, and family necessities delivered to their home the same day,” the company said in a press release released Wednesday morning.

The same-day shipping service costs Amazon Prime members $5.99 extra and non-Prime customers a $9.98 fee for the first item and $.99 for each additional item, according to Philly.com.
“Imagine how much time you will save now that you can get sunscreen, memory cards, toothpaste, hit movies, text books and HDMI cables all delivered to your home in hours, seven days a week, in one order from Amazon,” Amazon Prime Vice President Greg Greeley said in a statement.
The new service does not involve drones delivery packages, as was proposed previously by Amazon officials.

The Seattle-based online shopping giant announced the service will also be available to customers in Baltimore, Dallas, Indianapolis, New York City and Washington D.C. metro areas will also be part of the program. Amazon previously rolled out the same-day delivery service in selected West Coast cities.
