Starting at 8:15 p.m., depending on the weather, two trucks will apply Masterline Kontrol 4-4. The trucks will spray in the Appletree, Holly Hill and Red Cedar sections of Levittown. The spray operation will be over by 11 p.m. Thursday.

According to a county press release:

The spray will be conducted using a lead vehicle: a Ford Ranger pickup; and a spray truck: a 1997 Chevrolet pickup.  Both vehicles bear County of Bucks identification on the vehicle side doors.  The county Pesticide Applicator Number BU0107 will also appear on both vehicles.

According to the Pennsylvania DEP, the product is designed to provide quick, effective control of adult mosquito populations. The application material has a very low toxicity profile to mammals and will have negligible impact to non-target insects and the environment.

Crews will apply the chemical at the rate of about an ounce per acre.

The spray operation comes in the wake of several mosquitoes in Lower Bucks County that have tested positive for the West Nile Virus.
