On Tuesday at the Falls Twp. Board of Supervisors meeting, the board approved the purchase of 27 gym memberships for use by the townships police force, for a total of $2700.
Every June since 2000, the township has typically renewed their purchase of gym memberships with LA Fitness, at the tune of $5000 for 50 memberships. This year however, LA Fitness was not interested in renewing the deal and did not contact the township in regards to the matter.

This year the township decided to purchase the memberships from Retro Fitness.
Board Chairman Robert Harvie shared his disappointment in the business not returning township contact.

“Just the fact that a local Falls Twp. business doesn’t want to support Falls and the police is upsetting,” he said.
In the past the township has purchased 50 memberships, for the use of the police force and others working for the township, this year however, they decided to only purchase such memberships for the officers who said they would use it.

Harvie stressed that next year they do more research into the memberships asking the township manager to check into insurance reimbursements for providing the memberships to their employees.
