A new resident to Bristol Borough had an unwelcoming party of sorts Tuesday afternoon when a “huge” truck pulled down wires hanging over Buckley Street around 3:30 p.m.

A flash of pain and the whipping sounds of the wires falling down ย as she took was taking her son’s toys towards the backyard.

The woman ย and her young son ย were on the side of the home they just rented when the woman ย felt a sensation of pain in her back.

“I saw the truck stop for just a split second and then kept on going,” she said, pointing at the red inflamed whip mark from the wires that came down onto the street.

Her son, ย was also hit she said on he side of his temple where a ย reddish brown raised mark could be seen plus a “knot” on the top of the head of the boy.

As the truck cruised up Buckley Street, it hit and ripped down a set of wires above the street which are connected to a pole on the left side of the street and a residence on the right side.

Bristol police arrived on scene shortly after to investigate. The woman refused medical treatment for her and her son.

Wires laid on both sides of the street, although they were not live electrical wires with some tied and wrapped on trees on opposing sides of the street.

“The only description we got was a large white truck. A telephone wire was pulled down and notification was made,” Police Chief Arnold Porter said.

Elaborating further, Porter said: “Whenever wires are pulled down by a vehicle we want to obtain operator, vehicle and insurance information. Oftentimes, the operator of a large vehicle is not aware the he has pulled down cable or telephone wires. Charges could be filed.”

There are video cameras ย on both sides of the street and I really hope the cops check that video, the woman said.

“He didn’t even stop to see if we were okay,” she said, shaking her head looking out on to the street, perhaps replaying the incident in her mind.
