The southbound Maple Avenue (Route 213) ramp onto Route 1 will be closed starting Friday night.
The closure and detour will begin Friday at 9 p.m. and end Saturday at 5 p.m.

“During construction, Route 213 motorists wanting to access southbound Route 1 will take Route 213 East, Route 1 North, Interstate 95 South, southbound Business Route 1, and follow to Route 1 South. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area,” PennDOT said in a press release.
The work is part of a project to replace the three-span, pre-stressed box beam bridge over Maple Avenue. The reconstruction project will realign the Route 1 ramps to Maple Avenue, resurface the roadway approaches and ramps, install glare screens on the median barrier and upgrade drainage systems.
During the project, the speed limit along the highway was been reduced in the work zone.

The work on the project should be done by October 2014.
